This is a custom created needle felt wool "painting" on a background of natural fabric, collaged to create a unique backdrop for the portrait. The wool portrait is created by needle felting loose wool fiber onto a natural fiber background using barbed needle felting needles. Once the portrait is complete, it is set into an embroidery hoop, ready for hanging on the wall or placing on a stand to display on a table or bookshelf.

Just email me (valsart@me.com) several photos of your special friend, and I will needle felt a "painting" out of wool roving onto a patchwork background of linen. I will then stretch the finished portrait around wooden stretcher bars. You can add an optional float style frame to finish your beautiful portrait. Please select from the options below.

This personalized pet portrait would make a fabulous and unique gift, and will certainly delight the recipient. It even might be just the right art piece for YOU! The portrait is an eye catcher in any room. The nature of wool "painting" is that the pet likeness to the actual pet is uncanny and has the same "feel" as the actual pet. It is incredibly lifelike. Please note that this is an art piece, and should not be touched. If you choose the framed option, it does not include glass. Also, please display the art away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. Cleaning can be achieved by gently blowing off any accumulated dust once or twice a year by lightly blowing with a hair dryer on cool setting. Care instructions come with each piece of art.

Size options to choose from range from a 6" x 6" portrait up to a 12' x 12" stretched portrait with approximately 1" thick sides. If you wish, you can purchase a float style frame to finish the portrait. Frame options are natural wood finish or painted black. The optional framing will add approximately 2" to both the height and width of the finished piece. The frame sides of 2.5" is approximately how far the frame sits off the wall. Your portrait will be ready to hang with a nail and hook included. If you would like help choosing the size portrait, please send me a message and I will help you make your best choice.

Maybe you do not want your portrait framed, and prefer a simpler stretched portrait only. Stretched portraits can be hung as is and can be later framed by the purchaser using your own framer. Here are the size options for an unframed stretched portrait:

Please let me know if you have a color preference for the background color, and I will try to match your color palette as best as possible. I always allow the colors of the pet to be my guide, and select fabrics to compliment these colors. I generally use neutral colors, and will add an accent of any color you specify.
